The family of a Manitoba woman who disappeared five years ago held a barbecue on Saturday to raise money for continued searches.
Jennifer Catcheway was last seen in June 2008 while heading home to Portage la Prairie for her 18th birthday party. She would be 23 years old now.
Police believe she was killed somewhere between Grand Rapids and Portage la Prairie.
The family held the barbecue at 728 Poplar Bay in Portage La Prairie from noon until 7 p.m. CT. Saturday.
Her father, Wilfred Catcheway, said the family and a group of 20 volunteers want to spend two weeks searching for her body near Grand Rapids. They hoped to raise $5,000 at the barbecue to cover some of the cost of gas, food and accommodations.
"I just want to end this nightmare," said Catcheway. "We will do whatever it takes to find her."
Three RCMP investigators are still working on the case as well.
