An elderly couple was killed after their car crashed into a pickup truck on Highway 44 just east of Garson, Man., Tuesday.
The driver was an 88-year-old man and the passenger, his wife, was 85, RCMP said, adding that both were killed on impact.
The names of the couple, who were residents of rural municipality of St. Clements, are not being released.
The car was westbound in the eastbound lanes on Highway 44 just east of Garson when it collided with an eastbound pickup truck driven by a 29-year-old man from Tyndall.
Police say the car may have been travelling in the wrong lane for a few kilometers before the crash.
Alcohol is not considered a factor.
The driver of the pickup was air lifted to hospital with undetermined injuries. His condition is not known.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 44 were closed to traffic for much of Tuesday evening as RCMP began investigating the crash.
The village of Garson is about 40 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.
