A 22-year-old man is in custody after a collision and gun fire in Winnipeg's Exchange District early Monday morning.

Police said an officer came across a collision at McDermot Avenue and Princess Street just after midnight.

Two drivers in separate vehicles reportedly got into an argument.

One is alleged to have pointed a gun at the other, fired the weapon, sped through a red light, and struck another vehicle.

The driver of that vehicle, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police seized a firearm found at the scene.

The suspect is being held at the Provincial Remand Centre, charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm, and possession of marijuana as well as several firearms offences

In a separate incident, a woman reported damage to a residence in the 900 block of Burrows Avenue Sunday. Police determined it was from a single gunshot that likely occured early Saturday morning.

No injuries were reported.

Police are investigating.
