A 28-year-old driver who fell asleep at the wheel of his truck Friday morning walked away with minor injuries.

RCMP said the single vehicle rollover happened around 5 a.m. on highway 10 in the rural municipality of Cornwallis.

Police said the 2003 Dodge Ram was north bound when it left the road, entered the ditch and rolled into the Little Souris River.

The overturned vehicle was completely submerged, but the man, who was alone in the vehicle, managed to get out, walk to a local farm yard and called 911.

Police said he's from the Laurier area and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.

They are still investigating and said charges under the Highway Traffic Act are being contemplated.
