Jason Vega is returning to the Blue Bombers after spending a year in the National Football League.

The 26-year-old defensive end from Massachusetts, spent the 2011 and 2012 CFL seasons with the Blue Bombers, playing in 27 games and racking up 66 tackles, 12 sacks and one fumble recovery.

He also played in one playoff game, scoring an offensive touchdown, and the 2011 Grey Cup, where he recorded two tackles and one sack.

He spent part of the 2013 NFL season with New England but more of it with the Dallas Cowboys, seeing action in two games.

“Jason is a character guy with great athletic ability,” Bombers’ general manager Kyle Walters stated in a news release.

“He is not only a great football player, but a real quality person and will be a welcome addition to our locker room.”
