The cause of a damaged oil pipeline in the RM of Grey last week has been linked to gunfire.

TransCanada contacted Carman RCMP last week after officials noticed a pipeline had a dent in it and some paint missing.
Carman RCMP were called out to a TransCanada oil pipeline on May 15 to investigate damage suspected to be from a bullet.

RCMP are still investigating but said the damage is suspected as being caused by a bullet.

Whoever shot the pipeline did so outside of the station's security fence and RCMP don't yet know whether the damage was intentional.

Police are asking anyone with details to contact Carman RCMP at 204-745-6760, Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or submit a tip online to www.manitobacrimestoppers.com. Text "TIPMAN" and any details to CRIMES (274637).
