A Dakota Ojibway police truck collided with a train in western Manitoba on Sunday, sending an officer and a prisoner to hospital.
Shoal Lake RCMP say the Dakota Ojibway Police Service officer was transporting a 22-year-old male prisoner in the marked police truck when the crash happened shortly before noon CT.
The vehicle struck the slow-moving CN Rail train at a rail crossing on Highway 21, south of the junction with Highway 24 near Hamiota, Man.
Both the driver and the prisoner were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries, RCMP said in a release Tuesday.
The 2011 Ford F-250 truck had extensive front-end damage as a result of the collision.
Police are investigating the crash, but they say fog and icy road conditions were reported in the area at the time.
