Cyclist dead after collision at Regent and Stapon
Police said cyclist was crossing against red light when hit
A cyclist is dead after colliding with a vehicle in Transcona early Saturday morning.
Winnipeg police said a man riding a bike heading south was crossing Regent Avenue West at Stapon Road around 7:30 against the red light.
He was struck by a vehicle travelling east in the curb lane.
Police said the driver of the vehicle, a woman, has been interviewed.
Neither speed nor alcohol is considered a factor.
The man was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
Police said their investigation continues and anyone with information is asked to contact police.
Investigators are hoping to speak with the male driver of a Chevrolet Camaro, which was stopped at the intersection at the time of the collision, and who may have witnessed the incident.
