Crime rate drops in Winnipeg, according to StatsCan report
Winnipeg recorded one of the biggest declines in crime across the country last year, according to Statistics Canada.
The data, released by Statistics Canada on Wednesday, shows the city's overall crime rate dropped 16 per cent from 2012 to 2013.
That is just behind Victoria, B.C., for the largest decrease among major cities in Canada.
In the province as a whole, Manitoba's crime rate also dropped over the same time by 11 per cent.
The Statistics Canada report echoes some of the numbers reported Tuesday by the Winnipeg Police Service.
