Crews fight fire in Winnipeg's Assiniboine Forest

Winnipeg fire crews spent all night in Assiniboine Forest battling hotspots after a fire was sparked Thursday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the Assiniboine Forest on Thursday and remained through the night to Friday morning, after putting out a fire and watching for hot spots. (Trevor Dineen/CBC)

Winnipeg fire crews spent all night in Assiniboine Forest battling hotspots after a fire was sparked Thursday afternoon.

Smoke continued Friday morning to rise from the densely-treed area near Woodchester Bay.

Crews were initially called there at about 3 p.m. Thursday.

There's no word on what started the fire.
