The Trans-Canada highway remains closed after a crash between a semi trailer and a pickup truck near Portage la Prairie Sunday morning.
Emergency crews were called to Highway 1 and Angle Road just east of Portage la Prairie at about 4:30 a.m.
When they arrived they found a semi hauling hazardous materials had flipped over.
Police said the driver of the pickup truck was travelling southbound on Angle Road and tried to cross Highway 1 when the eastbound semi collided with it.
The 51-year-old semi driver and an adult male passenger, both from Calgary, were rushed to Portage District General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The 80-year-old man driving the pickup truck was also taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police said the hazardous material did not leak from the the semi.
Meanwhile, a crash in Winnipeg left a section of the street closed off on Portage Avenue and Sherbrook Street early Sunday morning.
Two cars collided — one appeared to be pulling a hot dog cart.
No serious injuries have been reported. The street has since been opened.
