Comedy Fest announces line-up
The Winnipeg Comedy Festival is celebrating its 13th year.
According to Artistic Director Al Rae, there's no reason to be superstitious about any of the comics who will be performing during the festival.
Dave Hemstad is doing a show at Rumours. According to Rae, Hemstad is "one of the best and hardest working comics in the country."
Sandra Shamas is someone else Rae is very excited about. "She stood out with her long running production of My Boyfriend's Back and There's Gonna Be Laundry," he said.
"She just killed the last time she was here," exclaimed Rae. "We brought her back for a food gala this time and we're calling it Food, Glorious Food."
They also have a show called Special Delivery. It includes Jon Steinberg.
And the host for that event will be Tom Green who will be at the funny fest for the first time.
There are some great opportunities for local performers this year, because they will get the chance to open each of the galas.
Darren Rose of Match Game will host a show called The Bro Show which will be paired with the No Bro Show.
CBC's The Debaters are doing a live show during the festival. As well, CBC's sketch comedy The Irrelevant Show will also be at the festival.
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Dr. Who will be Dr. Whom and the Lords of Improv. using some of the best improvisers in the country.
The diminutive Tanyalee Davis is a 3' 8" comedian originally from Winnipeg and now working in Las Vegas. She's coming back for a show called Size Matters.
The Winnipeg Comedy Festival runs from April 7 - 13.
