The City of Winnipeg is reminding residents that water meter readers could show up at their doors from now until the end of August.

The annual process has meter readers visit homes between 2:30 p.m. and dusk to collect readings from water meters.

City officials reminded residents all meter readers wear the same uniform – dark blue pants or shorts and a light-blue striped shirt with a City of Winnipeg logo over the pocket – and carry photo identification.

They said all readers will also be carrying a hand-held computer.

Residents are urged to check meter readers’ identification before allowing them into their home. They added meter readers never collect money from homeowners.
