Charlottetown, Winnipeg make 2014 best Canadian places to travel
Charlottetown ranked No. 1 on 2014 list of best places to travel in Canada
Travel magazine Vacay.ca has ranked Charlottetown No. 1 on its list of the "20 best places to travel in Canada" in 2014.
Part of the city's downtown will be turned into a "celebration zone" where visitors will be able to follow the steps of the Fathers of Confederation.
Also on the Vacay.ca list are Winnipeg, where the Canadian Museum for Human Rights is slated to open in September, and Vancouver, which will stage the 30th anniversary of the TED conference in March.
Quebec City, another top destination, is presenting the 60th edition of the Quebec Winter Carnival from Jan. 31 to Feb. 16, and celebrating the 350th anniversary of the Basilica of Notre-Dame de Quebec throughout the year.
The magazine's other recommended sites include Haida Gwaii, B.C.; Cave and Basin National Historic Site, Alta.; Prince Albert National Park, Sask.; Lanaudiere-Mauricie, Que.; St. Andrews by-the-Sea, N.B.; Fogo Island, N.L.; and Nahanni National Park Reserve, N.W.T.
