RCMP have upgraded charges laid against two teenage boys in a deadly shooting on Long Plain First Nation.

Two 15-year-old boys were previously charged with attempted murder in the shooting death of 41-year-old Barry Myran-Tizzard.

Myran-Tizzard was shot in the head on Long Plain First Nation on Feb. 2.

He was found by family members badly injured in a home in the community and was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

Two teen boys were later charged in the shooting.

On Feb. 11, Myran-Tizzard succumbed to his injuries.

RCMP confirmed Thursday the charges against the two teens were upgraded to second-degree murder.

Family members of Myran-Tizzard have said they believe his shooting was unprovoked and don’t know why he was targeted.

The RCMP major crimes unit continues to investigate.
