An Osborne Village restaurant owner is surveying damage after a car crashed through his front doors.

The crash happened at about 9:30 a.m. Monday at the corner of Osborne Street and River Avenue in Winnipeg.

Two cars collided and one was sent onto the sidewalk and into the doors of the former Papa George’s Restaurant — currently under renovations to become a new eatery and pub.

Restaurateur Miles Gould said the damage to his building is minimal and it’s fortunate that’s all that happened.

"My understanding is one person went to hospital. Hopefully they're not hurt badly, but at such a busy corner it could have been a whole lot worse,” he said.

Gould doesn’t yet have an opening date for the restaurant and isn’t sure if the damage from the crash will set things back much.
