A date has been set for a byelection in the Manitoba constituency of Fort Whyte.
The seat was vacated July 30, following the resignation of Hugh McFadyen, former leader of the official opposition Progressive Conservative Party.
The documents declaring the byelection date of Sept. 4 were signed and issued Friday by Premier Greg Selinger.
Nominations will officially close on Aug. 20 and advance polls will be open from Aug. 25 to Sept. 1.
On voting day, polls will remain open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The NDP nominated their candidate, Brandy Schmidt, on Thursday night.
There are currently 37 New Democrats, 18 Progressive Conservatives, one Liberal and one vacant seat in the Manitoba legislature.
