It appears the race for mayor in Winnipeg has a new contender.
Lawyer Brian Bowman announced via Twitter and Facebook on Monday morning that he intends to register as a candidate on Tuesday.
That makes Bowman the fourth official candidate in the mayoral race.
Lawyer and former city councillor Gord Steeves filed his papers on Friday.
Funeral director and businessman Mike Vogiatzakis was officially in the mayoral race as of Monday, after filing all of the necessary paperwork.
Vogiatzakis had tried to file his papers when the registration period opened on Thursday, but the city clerk's office denied his application when it was discovered that he does not live within Winnipeg city limits.
He was able to comply with municipal election rules by proving that he owns property within city limits.
Blogger Gordon Warren has also thrown his hat into the ring, registering on Thursday.
Mayor Sam Katz has said he will make a decision in June as to whether he will run again.
