Brandon police find boy, 15, with knife and stolen truck
A 15-year-old boy faces numerous charges after police in Brandon, Man., found him with a knife and a stolen truck early Monday morning.
Brandon police say they stopped the 2015 GMC truck in the 1900 block of Richmond Avenue shortly after 5 a.m.
The driver pulled over then tried to run away, but officers caught up with him a short distance away, police said in a news release.
Just before he was caught, the teen had allegedly thrown away a knife with a blade about 23 centimetres (nine inches) long.
Police say they determined the truck to have been stolen from Minnedosa, Man.
The boy was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He has also been charged under Manitoba's Highway Traffic Act for driving without a driver's licence and for having no liability insurance.
He has been detained at the Brandon Correctional Centre.
