Boxcar fire near Wellington and Empress possible arson

Winnipeg's Arson Strike Force is investigating a fire in a boxcar on the railroad tracks at Wellington Avenue and Empress Street Wednesday evening.

Fire officials say no injuries, track not active at the time

Winnipeg's Arson Strike Force is investigating a fire in a boxcar on the railroad tracks at Wellington Avenue and Empress Street Wednesday evening. 

A boxcar caught fire on Wednesday night near Winnipeg's 'Garbage Hill.' Fire officials said the track was not active at the time. (CBC)
Fire officials said rolls of paper caught fire inside the closed box Wednesday night. 

They said a firefighter was able to gain access to the box from the east side of the track to extinguish the fire.

The track was not active at the time.

There were no injures and no estimate of damages yet.
