A punt-return touchdown run has earned a CFL award for Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ Troy Stoudermire.
After coming very close to breaking loose in the past two weeks on returns, Stoudermire was finally able to hit pay dirt during Sunday’s Labour Day Classic, returning a punt 64 yards for a touchdown.
The score, in the fourth quarter, tied the game between the Bombers and Saskatchewan Roughriders at 21. The Riders went on to win 35-30.
Stoudermire, who was released by the Roughriders during training camp this year, also returned seven kickoffs for a total of 153 yards.
For his performance, he has been named the CFL's Special Teams Player of the Week.
This is the third time this season the Bombers have had a player win the award, with Demond Washington and Lirim Hajrullahu previously taking the honours.
