Blue Bombers hire CFL rookie Gene Dahlquist as QB coach

Gene Dahlquist is the new quarterbacks coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Coaching experience extends to NCAA, NFL Europe

Gene Dahlquist is the new quarterbacks coach of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Dahlquist is a CFL rookie but he has held offensive co-ordinator positions at the universities of Oregon, Boise State, Iowa State, Illinois, and the University of Texas.

Most recently, he was quarterbacks coach for the Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL, where he worked with current Bombers offensive co-ordinator Marcel Bellefeuille.

After leaving the NCAA, Dahlquist also spent three seasons as the head coach of the Scottish Claymores of NFL Europe from 2001-2003.

Since then, he has also worked at Football University, coaching quarterbacks prior to the NFL combine workouts, and has served as an NFL personnel consultant.
