Quarterback Max Hall has been cut by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, who reduced their roster on Friday.

He came in last year as a CFL rookie and ended up leading the team as its QB situation imploded. Starter Buck Pierce went down with yet another injury and then backups Justin Goltz and Chase Clement couldn't get the job done.

Hall started nine of Winnipeg's final 12 games last season, posting a 1-8 record.

He was the only quarterback invited to return this season, but was quickly knocked down the depth chart when the Bombers picked up Drew Willy from Saskatchewan.

The other players cut are:

  • Receiver Mark Dell
  • Receiver Jaymar Johnson
  • Receiver Bert Reed
  • Defensive back Stephon Morris
  • Defensive back Michael Ray Garvin
  • Defensive back Matt Pierce
  • Defensive lineman Willie Moseley
  • Offensive lineman Jesse Peterson
  • Receiver Taylor Renaud

The Bombers kick off their regular season by hosting the Toronto Argonauts at Investors Group Field on June 26.
