The first annual Bike Week Winnipeg (BWW) is set to roll off on June 16, encouraging two-wheeled transportation through a number of events.

Traveling dinners, group rides and workshops, as well as leisure and cultural events, will be offered through the week.

It all starts with a free breakfast party at the MTS Centre. Cyclists are invited to ride down the loading ramp (off Hargrave Street) into the arena.

The week will be capped off by the 7th annual Bike to Work Day on June 20. It is expected 5,000 commuters will pedal to work that day, say BWW organizers.

An estimated 50 pit stops will be set up to welcome cycling commuters from 6:30 a.m. until 9 a.m., offering free food and beverages.

Pit stops are run by volunteers and organizations including community centres, libraries, bike shops and Bike Week sponsors.

An all-day pit stop at The Forks will go from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

All Bike Week Winnipeg participants are invited to the Half Pints Bikes and BBQ party at Oodena Celebration Circle at The Forks, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., with free Boon Burgers for the first 500 cyclists.

A bike-powered concert system, powered by attendees, will amplify the concert by local musicians.

All Bike Week Winnipeg events are open to the public, and free unless otherwise indicated on Bike Week Winnipeg’s event schedule. A link is at the left of this page.
