Ashern-area man dies after SUV flips
Alcohol suspected, as police attend, another drunk driver caught
Ashern RCMP said they got the call just before 4 a.m. Saturday about a crash on Old 514 Road, about five kilometres north of Highway 68.
Officers found an SUV on its roof.
They said the driver was not wearing a seat belt and had been thrown out of the vehicle. He died at the scene.
Police said a passenger, a 26-year-old man from Lake Manitoba First Nation, was buckled in and managed to get out of the vehicle.
He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision.
As police were dealing with that situation, officers stopped another driver on the same road a few kilometres away.
They said the 46-year-old man was impaired and almost three times over the legal limit.
He is facing drunk driving charges.
