Arson is the cause of a fire that destroyed a home under construction and damaged three neighbouring ones in Winnipeg.
Police say the cause has been determined to be a set fire within the home under construction.
The fire broke out Monday just after 8:15 a.m. in the 100 block of Jefferson Avenue.
It started in 107 Jefferson and spread to 109, 105 and 111 Jefferson.
The tiny bungalow at 109 was heavily damaged. Firefighters had to cut into the roof of that house to get at flames inside the attic.
No one from any of the homes was hurt. Total damages to the four residences is $400,000.
Bradley Laroque, who owns the house at 109 Jefferson, told CBC News he saw two kids at the house under construction. Not long after they ran off, he heard a loud "whoosh" and flames engulfed the home.
