Will Ford, who was named an East Division all-star last CFL season, has been released by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Ford ran 113 times for 594 yards and two touchdowns in 2013, including a 70-yard romp in an October game that was the second longest by a running back that season. He finished with 156 rushing yards in that game.
He also ran back a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown during the Banjo Bowl game against Saskatchewan. Four weeks later, he returned another kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown in Calgary.
Ford was named the CFL special teams player of the week twice in 2013 and was re-signed by the Bombers in February of 2014.
The football club did not give a reason for his release.
Ford, who has played for the Bombers for the past two season, lost his starting job this season to Nic Grigsby.
Grigsby leads the CFL with three rushing touchdowns and is second with 218 yards through three games.
