After School Leaders is a 14 week program that keeps young people busy in the off-hours.

Program director Bob Veruela Jr. said the group started out shy at the beginning of the program, but by the time they hit the stage on Wednesday, that had completely changed.

"[They were] all out loving it and super loud," said Veruela Jr. "And [they were] excited to show their parents and their friends, so it's a big, big change for them in terms of self-esteem and motivation."

Veruela Jr. is a hip hop dancer himself and he said he couldn't be prouder of how the group has progressed.

He said the teens motivated each other, and they function as a team now.

"It's amazing," he said.
