Four people from the Toronto area have been arrested after PIN pads at two Winnipeg stores were allegedly altered so customers' debit and credit card information can be collected.
The Winnipeg Police Service says its commercial crime unit learned that two stores — one in the city's St. Vital area, and the other in St. James — had their point-of-sale terminals compromised.
Three men and one woman, all in their 20s, were arrested and charged with various offences on Thursday. They are in custody at the Provincial Remand Centre.
All four are from Ontario. Two are from Mississauga, one is from Brampton and one is from Etobicoke, according to police.
Police are advising anyone who believes they have been victimized to contact their financial institution.
