2 stranded Manitobans rescued from slushy Ontario lake
Two Manitoba men rescued in northwest Ontario after getting stuck in deep slush
Ontario Provincial Police say two Manitoba men have been rescued after becoming stuck in deep slush while fishing in northwestern Ontario.
OPP say they were contacted Monday evening by Lac Du Bonnet RCMP about two men reported stranded in the area of Reynar Lake inside the Ontario border.
A provincial police emergency response team and a Hercules aircraft from CFB Winnipeg joined the search for the two men, both in their mid 30s.
One of the men called police from a cellphone to provide their GPS co-ordinates, and family members were nearby on snow machines and picked the men up.
Police say the pair were cold and exhausted and one was suffering from frostbite, but neither had any serious injuries.
