One person is dead and two others are injured after a pair of vehicle-pedestrian incidents in western Manitoba involving the same driver, RCMP said.
Minnedosa RCMP were called to investigate two collisions Monday around 3 a.m. where Provincial Road 262 and Road 85N meet. The collision occurred near the entrance of Minnedosa’s Rockin’ the Fields music festival.
RCMP believe the driver of a southbound vehicle struck a 25-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman from Minnedosa who were walking along the shoulder of the highway.
The driver then proceeded and a short distance away struck a 44-year-old man, who was treated on the scene and released.
Both of the younger victims were taken to hospital, but the 25-year-old man died of his injuries. The woman he was with was treated and later released from hospital.
RCMP have a 37-year-old suspect in custody in Minnedosa.
Police said alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
