Two people are dead and five others were injured, including two young children, after a head-on crash between a truck and a car on Highway 6 near the Rural Municipality Woodlands. 

Police say a 26-year-old man was driving north on Highway 6 near Highway 411 when he attempted to pass a semi and slammed into the front of another truck. It happened just before 8:30 p.m. Friday. 

As a result, another car ran into the back of the truck and an SUV collided with the truck. 

The 26-year-old driver from The Pas wasd pronounced dead at the scene. The 48-year-old man driving the truck, from the RM of Woodlands, was also killed from the impact. 

Three adults and two young children were treated for minor injuries and released. 

The names of the deceased have not been released.

Police with the help of a traffic analyst continue to investigate.
