At least 17 Winnipeggers have entered the race for council spots in this fall's civic election, including seven incumbents.

Monday was the first day for candidates for city councillor to register with the city clerk's office.

Seventeen candidates were listed on the city's election website at 4:14 p.m. Seven of them are seeking re-election:

  • Jeff Browaty (North Kildonan)
  • Ross Eadie (Mynarski)
  • Jenny Gerbasi (Fort Rouge-East Fort Garry)
  • Brian Mayes (St. Vital​)
  • Grant Nordman (St. Charles)
  • John Orlikow (River Heights-Fort Garry)
  • Mike Pagtakhan (Point Douglas)

The other registered candidates for council are, in alphabetical order:

  • Keith Bellamy (Daniel McIntyre)
  • Joe Chan (St. Norbert)
  • Shawn Dobson (St. Charles)
  • Scott Gillingham (St. James-Brooklands)
  • Suzanne Hrynyk (Old Kildonan)
  • Janice Lukes (St. Norbert)
  • Donovan Martin (Old Kildonan)
  • Mehra Sachit (St. Norbert)
  • Bryan Metcalfe (St. James-Brooklands)
  • Trevor Mueller (Mynarski)

Meanwhile, seven people are seeking the mayor's job: Brian Bowman, Michel Fillion, Paula Havixbeck, Robert-Falcon Ouellette, Gord Steeves, Michael Vogiatzakis and Judy Wasylycia-Leis.

Winnipeg voters will go to the polls on Oct. 22.
