14-year-old nabbed for drunk driving, Brandon police say
Teen allegedly took family member's vehicle without their consent
A teenager who blew twice over the legal limit early Sunday morning has been charged with a series of highway traffic offences, Brandon police say.
Police stopped a vehicle at about 5:40 a.m. Sunday that was being driven erratically in the 800 block of Southern Avenue.
The 14-year-old Brandon teen at the wheel was given a breathalyzer. He blew twice over the legal blood-alcohol limit, police said.
After he was arrested, investigators determined the vehicle belonged to one of the teen's family members and was taken without their consent, police said. He was under curfew as part of a probation order that also required he not drink alcohol.
The teen was charged with a number of offences, including drunk driving, driving over the legal limit, breach of probation and taking a vehicle without the owner's consent.
He remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court Sunday.
