London police seek witnesses to early morning shooting

Police say one man underwent surgery and was in serious condition. A number of people were seen fleeing the scene. No arrests have been made so far.

Police continue to collect evidence at the scene of a shooting early Saturday morning in south London.

Police say one man was shot. He was taken to hospital by another person. The victim underwent surgery and was in serious condition.

The shooting happened at a house on Nixon Avenue near Ferndale Avenue. Police responded to a call at around 4:30 a.m.

Police told CBC News that a gathering had been underway at the house at the time of the shooting.

A number of people were seen running from the scene, according to police. No arrests have been made at this time.

Blood could be seen on the sidewalk in front of the house.

The area around the house was taped off as investigators were seen going in and out of the side door.

A forensics van remained parked at the scene.
