Accused in cabbie killing appears in court
Cody Perkin will be back before a judge next week
The man accused of killing a London cabbie in May appeared in court via video link from jail Monday morning.
Cody Perkin, 23, is charged with second-degree murder.
Vijay Bhatia, a 64-year-old cab driver, was pulled from his cab and attacked in the parking lot at a convenience store at 925 Wonderland Road South.
Bhatia was the first cab driver in London to be killed in more than 30 years. He was a father of four and a grandfather. He had driven taxi for more than 20 years.
Perkin appeared in orange jail-issue shorts and an orange t-shirt, his neck and arms covered in tattoos. He spoke briefly with his lawyer and his case was put over until next week.
Perkin's previous court date had been delayed because he needed open-heart surgery and had a medical appointment in early May. It's unclear whether Perkin has had surgery yet.
