Get your nails done at this White Oaks salon? Consider an HIV test
Middlesex-London Health Unit says clients of Cali Nails may have been exposed to blood-borne infections
People who've had their nails done and other services performed at Cali Nails in White Oaks mall are being advised to get tested for HIV and Hepatitis B and C.
The Middlesex-London Health Unit said the salon has repeatedly failed infection control inspections. One client has also reportedly tested positive for a blood-borne infection.
The health unit said clients who frequented the salon between May, 2017 and January, 2018 should get a blood test.
"With what we've seen over the inspection history of this business, it has become necessary for us to issue this public notification," said Mary Lou Albanese, manager of infections disease control at the MLHU.
She said the risk is low, adding it may be impossible to tell whether a positive blood test was a result of a procedure performed at the nail salon.
Cali Nails was closed for several days but has since reopened.
