Waterloo Regional Police are looking for a man who tried to sexually assault a woman on Victoria Street South Friday night.

The assault took place at around 11 p.m. Friday as the woman walked on Victoria Street near Paulander Drive. The man pushed the woman to the ground and then tried to sexually assault her, police said in a release.

But the man fled the scene when the woman resisted and screamed.

Police are looking for the man, who they describe as thin, white, five feet and six inches tall with short hair, and between 22 and 25 years old.

At the time of the assault, he was shirtless and wore a pair of cream or beige-coloured shorts. He also had "some type of cloth or fabric" hanging from his mouth, police said.
