A 90-year-old Kitchener woman succumbed to injuries at Grand River Hospital after being knocked over by a vehicle that she had just exited.
The woman was being dropped off at her King Street apartment in Kitchener when the vehicle suddenly reversed, knocking her underneath, police said. The vehicle then drove over her.
Waterloo Regional Police Sgt. Stu Church said the driver did not immediately realize what had happened.
“The driver and the victim are well-known to each other,” said Church. “At this point [Sunday night] I believe no charges will be laid.”
The incident is still under investigation. The woman’s next of kin has not yet been located.
