Renovated hotel in downtown Kitchener will include convention space
A new hotel catering to business travellers in downtown Kitchener will include 15-thousand square feet of convention space.
Crowne Plaza, a chain that is part of the Intercontinental hotel group, will open its new facility later this year at the old Delta hotel site on Frederick Street. The renovation, described as a "multi-million dollar" undertaking, will begin this month.
"It’s just going to be upgraded very heavily to make it competitive," said Amin Visram , CEO of Intercontinental Hotel Group, noting the lack of conference facilities in downtown Kitchener.
"So when you’re attracting huge groups or business groups they require meeting space if they’re staying at your hotel, " he said.
The renovated conference facility will cater to the occupants of the new court house and in the growing tech sector in Kitchener, according to Visram.
