7 arrested after shooting near Victoria and Westmount in Kitchener

Waterloo Region Police are investigating an early morning shooting on Paulander Drive in Kitchener.

Seven people have been arrested following a shooting early Tuesday morning in Kitchener. 

Waterloo Regional police said they received reports around 3:17 a.m. of gun fire at two locations on Paulander Drive, near Victoria Street S. and Westmount Road W.  

An officer at the scene told CBC News the shots were fired at 65 Paulander Dr., which is where officers found bullet holes in the windows of a townhouse.  

Police said witnesses heard the gunshots, then saw several people quickly fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

Police found that vehicle at the rear of an apartment building at 80 Mooregate Cres., and identified an apartment connected to the shooting. Around 8 a.m., seven people were arrested and weapons were seized.

Police said they do not believe there is any further risk to public safety, and no one was injured. 

Charges are pending, and police continue to investigate the shooting.
