An eight-year-old Owen Sound boy drowned Saturday in Williams Lake Chatsworth Township.
Grey County OPP say they received a report around 6 p.m. Saturday evening that a child had gone missing after being seen in the lake's public swimming area.
Several cottagers and area residents helped police search for the boy, who was found in shallow water just before 7 p.m. a few metres from shore, police say.
Police say emergency services personnel tried, but were unable to revive him.
The boy, identified as eight year old Dakota Flood, was taken to Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre in Owen Sound where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing, but police say they do not suspect foul play.
