Ager Hasan, the 24-year-old Hamilton man who is accused in the fatal stabbing of Melinda Vasilije of Kitchener, has been arrested in Texas for second degree murder, police say.

Police have said the two had been in a relationship for about a year. Hasan has been a fugitive since 22-year-old Vasilije was found dead in her Country Hill Drive apartment at 3 a.m. on April 28.

Since then, he has been in communication with police through email, and someone alleging to be Hasan has periodically posted on Instagram — and once on Reddit.
Police issued a Canada-wide warrant for Hasan's arrest, for one charge of a second-degree murder. A post mortem revealed Vasilije died from multiple stab wounds.
Police knew Hasan crossed into the U.S. on the Peace Bridge from Fort Erie, Ont., to Buffalo, N.Y., around 6 a.m. on April 28 driving a black Honda HR-V.
