Man charged with first degree murder in 1994 death of infant
Stratford police have charged Christopher Skinner, 43, with first degree murder in connection to the 1994 death of an 18-month-old girl.
"It's a homicide of an 18-month-old baby. It's taken us a substantial amount of time to bring this to a successful conclusion. It's something that's bothered us and me personally," said police Deputy Chief Mike Bellai.
"It's something that we never gave up on."
Police were called to Stratford General Hospital more than 20 years ago regarding the suspicious death of Tanika Seupersaud.
Police would not disclose the cause of death, or whether the accused knew the victim.
"This is a really important case for police services as well as the family, so there are a lot of details that we aren't going to be disclosing until the court case," said Bellai.
Bellai said Skinner was remanded into custody and will appear in a Stratford court this week.
