A 53-year-old Kitchener man has been charged with the aggravated assault of Mark James McCreadie, who was found dead near Victoria Park on April 10.

Police believe Derrick Lawlor fought with McCreadie the evening before McCreadie’s body was found. But they say the injuries sustained by McCreadie in the altercation would not have been life-threatening.

Lawlor will appear in court next Tuesday. Police continue to investigate McCreadie's death, which they call suspicious.

McCreadie was found in a wooded area near train tracks close to Schneider Avenue by people in the area. His body was transported to Hamilton for an initial autopsy, but police said it did not reveal what caused his death.

A second autopsy yielded inconclusive results.
