Waterloo Regional Police say they are looking for a male suspect after he was confronted while stealing items from a car before getting away.

In a news release, police said a car owner returned to the vehicle he parked on Morgan Avenue, near King Street East and Fairway Road, and "discovered a male inside his car committing theft" Thursday at roughly 4:30 p.m.

Police said the male threatened the car owner, saying he had a knife — which was never spotted — before fleeing on foot. No one was injured in the incident.

The suspect is described by police as a white male standing five foot ten inches tall with a skinny build, dark hair, dark eyes and black decaying teeth with a few missing.

Authorities add he was last seen wearing a black winter coat with a black hooded sweatshirt underneath along with a light blue shirt, black boots, a black tuque and a pair of white-framed sunglasses.
