A 36-year-old Kitchener man faces charges of attempted murder following an episode of domestic violence at a Chandler Drive apartment.

Police and paramedics were sent to the home in the early hours of Friday morning following reports of an injured woman inside an apartment in the Ottawa Street South and Westmount Road East area.

Once emergency crews arrived, they found a woman suffering from multiple serious injuries. She was rushed to Grand River Hospital.

Police arrested a 36-year-old man who lives in the apartment and is scheduled to make a court appearance Friday on an attempted murder charge.

Police said the name of the man has been withheld in order to protect the identity of the woman.

Investigators said Friday that a command post has been set up in the neighbourhood and officers are canvassing the area looking for more clues.
