Every day, musicians write, record and release new music in Ontario. And each week, In the Key of C highlights some of our favourites in a weekly column on CBC Radio One, produced by CBC Kitchener-Waterloo's Amanda Grant.

In the Key of C, hosted by Craig Norris, airs Saturday afternoons at 5 p.m. ET on CBC Radio One, across Ontario — except in the Greater Toronto Area.

Sam Boer - Month of May

It's the first week of spring, so for that I've picked some songs that have me in the spirit of the season.

"Month of May" is a song by London, Ont. songwriter Sam Boer. Boer released his EP Crossed Legs earlier this year and it features a slew of appearances by his friends playing everything from a cardboard box to a glockenspiel.

This song is a sweet approach to a relationship ballad, running though the seasons of love.

Delta Will - Dawn Song

Toronto's Delta Will released a new EP titled Weathering last week and it opens with the instrumental track "Dawn Song."

For me, this song is the perfect soundtrack to the spring awakening, as buds start to form and snow melts away.

It combines finger-picked guitar with synth swells and subtle drum machine rhythms to create something truly atmospheric.

Andy Shauf - The Magician

"The Magician" by Saskatchewan's Andy Shauf is quickly becoming the soundtrack to my spring.

It's the latest offering from Shauf, and is set to be released on his new album The Party, coming May 20. The album's narrative is told through various perspectives of people attending the same party.

This track is varied, and layered, using countless instruments and sounds to add nuance and depth.
