The City of Guelph is trying to figure out the extent of a recently discovered termite infestation.

Inspectors will be checking 450 homes close to the downtown for signs of termite infestation, after the insects were discovered chewing their away through three properties earlier this month along King Street, between Eramosa Road and Palmer Street.

Letters have been sent to affected residents in wards 1 and 2 to notify them of the plan to visually survey their yards into mid-September.

The city says once the infestation area is determined, further information will be sent to affected residents.
