Grand River human remains identified as Tasha Marie Smith
No foul play currently suspected in death of Cambridge resident last seen in 2010
Police have identified human remains found in the Grand River in downtown Galt on Friday as Cambridge resident Tasha Marie Smith.
Smith was last seen at her home in Cambridge on Dec. 1 2010, Waterloo Regional Police said in a release. She was 28 at the time.
While police say no foul play is suspected in her death, homicide officers continue to investigate the case and are asking for the public's assistance.
Smith had contacts in downtown Kitchener. When she went missing in 2010, police said she suffered from multiple personality disorders, and sometimes used the names Punx and Corey.
The remains were discovered along the Galt waterfront in the Water Street South and Cedar Street area by someone fishing in the Grand River on Friday.
Police urge those with relevant information to call (519) 650-8500 ext. 8666.
